As I presented to you few days ago the Nao Developer Program was ready to be released (see this post).

Today is the day!!!!!! This evening we are sending the first invitations.

You need an invitation from a developer member to be part of this adventure.  The price of the Nao Developer Program is 3600€ which includes your own robot and everything you need to get started!

Where can you find your invitation ? Have a look at the main robotics forums and blogs, I’m sure that you can find invitations there.

This video demonstrates the integration of the humanoid robotic platform Nao within a Network Robot System (NRS) application. The specific scenario of interest takes place in a smart home environment; the task being that of bringing a can of soda from a fridge to a human user. We use this concrete
scenario to evaluate how the performance of such a robot can be affected by being embedded inside an intelligent domestic environment. This study points out that, by cooperating with different components on the network the overall performance of the robot is increased.

Nice to see Nao on a such interesting project. Do not expect to much of the term “ethical decision” but Susan and Michael Anderson think and progress on this wide and complex subject. Article found  on : discovery (thanks to JC)

Robotics will be the next phenomenon of the digital era and NAO from Aldebaran Robotics its first incarnation as a humanoid robot. I’m sure that it will be the next revolution as personal computer was 30 years ago.

We, a group of pioneers,  want to be part of the adventure and pave the way to the future. We want to combine our skills and creativity to animate NAO and bring him to robotics life. Many challenges are waiting for us :

• Artificial Intelligence
• Social interaction and Droid User Interface
• Autonomous Navigation
• Vision and audio recognition
• Humanoid robot behaviors
• Evolutionary robotics

In order to achieve this very ambitious and motivating plan, we have joined a Developer Program in which a limited number of selected talented developers around the world will create and share  source code and  applications for NAO, which could be, later, marketed on NAO online store. For that, these key developers will be able to purchase a NAO  and receive a priviledged support from Aldeberan’s team.

To apply, you need to be invited by a member of the community. Invitations come from someone in your network of developers. I’ve got a few to give out, just get in touch
